Bobcats Baseball – All the opportunities available to our playersThe Tinley Park Bobcats are proud to offer organized FUN for everyone in youth baseball while developing the FUN-damentals. The Bobcats offer an age appropriate approach with options at all age levels for players to develop their skills and play ball.
In-House LeagueGrade school age baseball players get the recreation and experience of being on a team with old friends or an opportunity to make new friends as well as get the game competition they are sure to love. Spring practice starts in April and the games follow with playoffs leading to the crowning of a division champion in late June. The Bobcats offer high school age leagues that start later and wrap up later in the summer.
Part-Time TravelPart-time travel managers are selected to organize a team before the summer ends to play part-time travel ball the next season. Tryouts are coordinated by the manager and pre-registration in the In-House league is required. Selected players work out with their Select team during the winter months and are drafted onto in-house teams the following spring. In addition to playing in the Chicagoland Sunday League, part-time Select teams play on Wednesdays. One to two tournaments are included in the part-time season. More information is available from any Bobcat league representative.
End of Season/”July” All-Star SeasonThis play is held for specific ages at the end of the In-House League season during the month of July. Managers are selected to organize a team of in-house All Stars to play tournament baseball. Most tournaments are held within 30 minutes of Tinley Park. At the younger ages, participation is emphasized more than the competition. At the older ages, the competitive nature of these tournaments demands a “play to win” attitude. Players are nominated by their in-house manager and are selected after a tryout in late May or early June. Players must make a commitment to these teams in order to be selected.
Fall BallFall Ball is held for specific league levels on weekends and a handful of weekdays during the months of August, September & October. Play is currently available from Mustang level through high school ages. The level at which a player will participate is determined by their playing level for the next year. It is comparable to part-time travel as games are played against teams from other local communities within 30 minutes of Tinley Park but similar to house-play as far as it still being an instructional environment. However, it is instruction within a competitive environment. Practice for these teams can begin in early August. Registration information for Fall Ball comes out in the spring.
Full-Time TravelThis level of play is available for players 9 –15 years of age. Teams are formed to each individual age group. Games typically take place during the months of April through mid July. Depending on the manager & the team, a team may play approximately 40 to 70 games. These games consist of approximately 75% league games and 25% tournament games. Due to the competitive nature of full-time play, practice begins outdoors in the fall, followed by indoors in the Winter months. Practice resumes outdoors in the spring and continues throughout the season. Tryouts for Full-Time teams typically take place in late July/early August for the following season. A 100% commitment is expected for players and their families to play full-time travel baseball. These commitments include participation in various fundraisers as well as all practices and games. Most games are held within one hour of Tinley Park. Tournaments can be held at locations with distances greater than one hour.
The Tinley Park Bobcats adhere to the official Pony Baseball rules. Please check each division as they way have “house rules” that supersede Pony rules.
